Day 1: Srinagar Arrival – Local Sightseeing – Mughal Gardens – Nishat Bagh – Shalimar Bagh

Upon your arrival in Srinagar via a delightful flight, you will be greeted by Ladakh Ultimate Destination representatives who will then transport you to either a houseboat or a hotel. The afternoon is free for you to engage in personal activities. As evening approaches, embark on a charming Shikara ride on Dal Lake to witness the enchanting sunset. Our exploration of this paradise begins with a half-day tour of the renowned Mughal Gardens, masterpieces constructed during the Mughal era in Kashmir: the Nishat Bagh (Garden of Pleasure) and Shalimar Bagh (Abode of Love). Afterward, we return to the houseboat for a satisfying lunch. In the afternoon, a Shikara ride on Dal Lake will immerse you in the stunning beauty of the world’s most beautiful mountains. Spend the night on the houseboat.

Day 2: Srinagar to Sonamarg to Kargil Valley via Zojila Pass (11,575ft) – Drass Village – The World’s Second Coldest Inhabited Place

Begin your day with morning tea and a sumptuous breakfast, and then embark on one of the most exhilarating and scenic drives in the world from Srinagar to Kargil. Along the way, you’ll pass through panoramic villages and reach Sonmarg (2740 mtrs), where lush green fields surround you. After Sonmarg, the road becomes rough and wet, leading to Zojila Pass (3527 mtrs), known as the Gateway of Ladakh. This pass is often covered in snow. The journey continues to Drass, the second coldest inhabited place on Earth, where you can stop for refreshments and passport checks. A few more hours of driving will take you to Kargil (2710 mtrs), which serves as a mid-way point to Leh. Spend the night at a hotel.

Day 3: Kargil Village to Leh – Local Sightseeing – Magnetic Hill – Pathar Sahib – Sangam – Hall of Fame – Spituk Monastery – Lamayuru Monastery – Moonland

After breakfast, depart for Leh. On the way, you can visit Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, Magnetic Hill, Sangam, and Lamayuru. Sangam is the confluence of the Zanskar River and Indus River, offering breathtaking views. The Hall of Fame is a poignant tribute built by the Indian army to honor soldiers who lost their lives in the Kargil War. Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, located 40 km from Leh, was constructed in 1571 to commemorate Guru Nanak’s visit to the region. Magnetic Hill is a fascinating phenomenon where your car, with the engine turned off, appears to move uphill on a steep slope. Lastly, visit the dramatically located Lamayuru Monastery and the adjacent “Moonland” hills. Lamayuru Monastery, one of Ladakh’s most magnificent monasteries, is known for its ancient history and stunning setting amidst towering mountains. Spend the night at a hotel in Leh.

Day 4: Leh Local Sightseeing – Leh Palace – Shanti Stupa – Market

Visit the Shanti Stupa, an architectural gem with a unique style distinct from other Ladakhi Stupas. This Stupa features a life-sized statue of Gautam Buddha on the first level and murals depicting three significant events in his life on the second level. Explore Leh Palace, a former royal palace overlooking the town, constructed around 1600. It boasts nine stories, with the upper floors once housing the royal family and the lower floors serving as stables and storage rooms. Much of the palace is now in a state of deterioration, but remnants of its interior decorations can still be seen. Spend the night in Leh.

Day 5: Leh to Nubra Valley (135km) via Khardong La Pass (18,380ft) – Hunder Village – White Sand Dunes – Camel Ride Points

Embark on an early morning journey from Leh to Nubra Valley via the renowned Khardongla Pass, situated at a breathtaking height of 18,360 ft and known as the world’s highest motorable pass. This pass offers the perfect opportunity to capture the pristine beauty of Mother Nature. After reaching Nubra Valley, have lunch at a local restaurant and check in to your guesthouse. Nubra is famous for its sand dunes, cold desert landscapes, Bactrian camels, and natural beauty. Take some time to explore the sand dunes and enjoy a camel ride on the double-humped Bactrian camels, a unique experience. Spend the night at a camp or hotel in Nubra Valley.

Day 6: Nubra to Turtuk and Back to Hunder – Zero Village – Last Village – Balti Royal Heritage Museum

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Turtuk village. Turtuk is located in the Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir, in the Nubra valley, 80 km from Hunder, along the banks of the Shyok River. This region was under Pakistan’s control until 1971 when India gained control of this strategically important area. Turtuk is situated in the Baltistan Region and is one of four such villages in India, with residents speaking Balti, Ladakhi, and Urdu. Turtuk is the last outpost in India before entering Pakistan-controlled Gilgit-Baltistan, making it one of the gateways to the Siachen Glacier. In the evening, after visiting Turtuk village, return to Hunder village in Nubra. Overnight stay at a camp.

Day 7: Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shayok River – Disket Village – Disket Monastery – Maitreya Buddha Statue

After breakfast, visit the Disket Monastery, also known as Diskit Gompa, which is situated on a hill above the plains of the Shayok River. This 14th-century monastery is famous for its 100-foot-high Maitreya Buddha statue, inaugurated by the Dalai Lama. The Gompa offers panoramic views of the Nubra Valley. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Pangong Lake via the Shayok River. Pangong Lake, located at an elevation of 4,400 meters, is approximately 135 kilometers from Leh. En route, cross the Chang La pass and drive through Durbuk and Tangtse villages in the Changthang region of Ladakh. Explore the lake and its surroundings, experiencing the hypnotic and picturesque beauty of Pangong Tso Lake. Spend the night at a camp.

Day 8: Pangong Lake to Leh via Changla Pass (17,590ft) – Thiksey Monastery – Shey Palace – Rancho School

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and then drive back to Leh via Changla Pass. Along the way, visit Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, and Rancho School. Thiksey Monastery features a magnificent Maitreya Buddha statue, while Shey Palace offers a fascinating historical site with a significant Changchup Chorten (Victory Stupa) covered in pure gold. Spend the night at a hotel in Leh.

Day 9: Leh to Keylong or Serchu (230

km)

Early in the morning, after breakfast, depart for Serchu via Upshi, where your journey along the Indus River begins. You’ll pass through the majestic Tanglang La Pass (17,585ft), known as the second highest motorable road in the world, Skyangchu Thang (a plateau stretching for 42 kilometers), Namkeela, and Lachangla Pass (16,617ft). Spend the night in Serchu.
